The Global Climate Change and the Biodiverse Wetlands

The changing climate is first among the potent threats to a better and sustainable future and the modern man lifestyle and behavior adds more and more fuel to this destructive process.  The destructive climate change is changing the world around us. The ice sheets and bergs are melting at an alarming rate and the species that are dependent on these ecosystems are losing habitat and facing a lot of stress.  The climate change has led to destructive floods, wildfires, droughts, and other destructive weather events which impacts people and wildlife by losing their habitats and unfavorable conditions. Climate change will displace millions of lives across the globe and let us act now and fight for the climate refugees.

Climate change

The wetlands present throughout the world are one of the most threatened ecosystems on earth. Human induced climate change is one of the main driving forces of wetland extinctions and threat.  The unprecedented climate change along with industrialization, resource over exploitation, urbanization, and environmental pollution threatens the wetlands across the world. The Climate change affected and impacted severely all the services like water recharge and discharge, flood control, wildlife habitats etc. rendered to the human kind.

Late Snow Climate change

The rapid climate change altered the natural base flows, increased heat strokes, and disease vulnerability. Global climate change has already led to the extinction of almost 60% of wetlands globally since industrialization.  Climate change will lead to alteration to the basic structure of wetlands which in turn will lead to loss of habitat to millions of migratory birds who visit these wetlands for breeding as well as feeding purposes.  The elegant migratory birds are at verge of extinction due to climate-induced change in wetlands.

The wetlands of the geosphere are drying up and climate change has led to the acidification, cracking, and compaction of wetland soils and the millions of people and wildlife dependent on them facing food scarcity and habitat loss. The wetlands are dying and we are the murderers, if we will not conserve and protect these biodiverse wetlands the global climate change will lead to natural disasters that may be prodigious and irreversible and the loss will be very hard to comprehend. Let’s save wetlands that will help to save humankind from climate change otherwise human existence will be lost in the wild.
